"WHO'S YOUR ONE" SIGNS whos your one pgh rftc poster_3.6.19

This year, the Pittsburgh Race for the Cure will honor and recognize breast cancer survivors, Forever Fighters, and those we have lost to this disease in many special ways. Declare your one — the one who you Race for, the one who you fight for with specially designed, customized 12"x18" posters. "Who's Your One" posters, featuring your special message, will line the Schenley Bridge as participants enter Flagstaff Hill. Posters will be available for a donation prior to the event; all pre-ordered posters will be digitally printed and available to take home at the completion of the Race. Stay tuned for more information!

Dr. Margaret Rosenzweig receives two-year seed grant for ACBC initiatives

Margaret Rosenzweig headshot_3.12.19The Allegheny County Breast Collaborative (ACBC), with the purpose to address disparities in breast health and breast cancer care in Allegheny County is continuing its work through a two-year seed grant from the University of Pittsburgh to Margaret Rosenzweig, PHD, CRNP-C, AOCN, FAAN.  Dr. Rosenzweig is a Professor of Nursing at the University of Pittsburgh who works diligently to address racial disparities in breast cancer care as well as to provide care to people living with metastatic breast cancer.

Komen Greater PA is proud to work with Dr. Rosenzweig and the rest of the community partners of ACBC on her grant “Developing Synergy for Breast Cancer Control”.  This cooperative group is providing community engagement offering support, education and advocacy for underserved women in Allegheny County by first targeting the women of Braddock through community outreach programs as they #TurnBraddockPositivelyPink!  The first phase of the program includes educational and awareness programs that are being held throughout the neighborhood to encourage positive breast health action such as getting a mammogram and making healthy lifestyle choices. In addition to programming, Dr. Rosenzweig’s team has a telephone number to call for individuals looking for additional information: 412-228-9800. If you live in the Braddock area and would like more information, please call and leave a message.  The team will return your call in 2-3 business days.

Komen Greater Pennsylvania’s 53-county service area. VIPink representatives are leaders in their community who honor those touched by breast cancer and bring urgency to efforts to find the causes and cures.

Members of our VIPink Circle demonstrate their commitment by donating or raising the minimum pledge to support Susan G. Komen Greater Pennsylvania, with 75% of all funds raised staying in the local community and supporting breast cancer education, screening, and treatment initiatives, while the remaining 25% supports Komen’s National Grant Program that funds research programs throughout the country.
